Pasadena Local 858 City Employees Have a Fantastic Turnout at the Labor Picket Last Week!

Despite AFSCME postponing a pay increase promised to the employees in 2006—saving the City over $800, 000—the City continues to push for an agreement that would hurt AFSCME members by cutting healthcare and reducing retirement benefits by 8%, in return for two, 1% pay increases.

The city is in a solid financial state having doubled its General Fund balance and yet they refuse to comply with AFSCME’s modest request to increase the pay of their members to a level of other similar classifications of city employees and additionally continues to cut $200 per month from employees who are enrolled in Kaiser.
