AFSCME Local 2002 Members Help at Vaccination Sites
The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine has been happening for months across the country, and Union members have been a major part of the process.
We knew it was going to take a large number of people to help vaccinate millions of people in a short span of time and AFSCME members have stepped up to do just that. In Anaheim, Calif. AFSCME Local 2002 members began volunteering at the vaccination site at Disneyland in January and at the Anaheim Convention Center in February.
Some of their tasks include site logistics, parking control, line control, registration, check-in, and assisting those who are administering the vaccine. Each task is enormously important in ensuring that residents have a smooth and efficient vaccination experience. Members know that their role is vital and are happy to assist during this historic moment. “[It’s] very rewarding to contribute to the community in vaccinating the most vulnerable,” says Richard Yuen, member of AFSCME Local 2002.
It is unknown how long volunteers will be helping at vaccination sites, but they have been offered the vaccine.
Thank you to our members who are helping vaccinate their fellow community members. Your role is important, and your community appreciates you!
