AFSCME Local 809 plants tree in remembrance of member
Members of AFSCME Local 809 came together to remember their fellow union member Dan Crable, who recently passed away from cancer.
Crable worked for the City of Carson for 40 years as a facilities maintenance technician. He was dedicated to keeping the recreation facilities and parks across the City beautiful. He was proud to serve the Carson community.
To honor his life, AFSCME Local 809 planted a tree at Carson Park and held a dedication ceremony Wednesday afternoon. At the dedication ceremony, Crable’s coworkers and family members spoke about the kind of person he was. “He was a very private person, but he loved all of you,” said Crable’s niece Leslie Nelson, as she addressed his coworkers. “He truly thought of you all as family.”
Rob Robledo, Crable’s long-time coworker, spoke about Crable helping him get proper work boots when he first started working with the City, and helping his family get a new washing machine when his needed to be fixed.
Crable will be remembered for many things, but his coworkers will always remember him as someone who cared about them and helped them whenever they needed it. “We’re a family here at the City of Carson and Dan’s passing will have a big impact on all of us,” said Tony Rodriguez, president of AFSCME Local 809. “With this tree dedication, his legacy and dedication here in the city will now be remembered on this site. He touched many of us and he will be truly missed.
