Council 36 stands with Minnesota community

AFSCME District Council 36 is standing with the Minnesota community and MN AFL-CIO as they demand an immediate end to the ICE occupation of Minnesota.
The recent killings of Keith Porter and Renee Nicole Good by ICE have devastated our communities and people are rightfully angry.
There has been a disturbing pattern of federal immigration enforcement agents harassing, harming, and destroying families with little to no accountability for a year, and it must end. They are going into spaces where people should feel safe to enter, such as hospitals, schools, and grocery stores, and are targeting people of color, regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
It is unacceptable for ICE agents to be allowed to continue to enact violence on our communities with impunity to push a xenophobic and racist agenda. DHS must be held accountable for their actions, and it is past time that ICE agents leave our neighborhoods.
Our families, friends, and neighbors deserve to feel safe, due process and their constitutional rights should not be infringed upon.
We unequivocally denounce these violent acts that occurred in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and other cities across the country. Today, we join with Minnesotans for a Day of Truth and Freedom as we call on elected officials to hold DHS responsible and to end their occupation of our cities.
